Privacy Policy

Your land stays private. We never sell, share, or rent your data, and we never share your property boundary or coordinates with anyone. Your report is private to you.

What we collect

When you use ReadMyLand, we collect only what is necessary to generate your terrain report and, if you opt in, to contact you:

• The geographic coordinates and boundary you provide for analysis
• Payment information processed securely by Stripe (we never see or store your card details)
• Your email address, if you choose to provide it at checkout or in the optional email capture form
• Consent records: the exact notice text you agreed to, the context (free preview, paid report, voucher purchase), and the timestamp of your consent

How we use your data

• To generate and deliver your terrain report
• To process your payment via Stripe
• To send you your report link or voucher code, if you provided an email
• To send occasional product updates, if you consented via the email capture form
• To maintain a GDPR-compliant audit trail of your consent

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties
• We do not share your property coordinates or boundaries with anyone
• We do not use your data for advertising or profiling
• We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking

Email communications

If you provide your email address, we may send you:

• Transactional emails: your report link, voucher code, and credit balance (legal basis: contract performance)
• Occasional product updates about ReadMyLand services (legal basis: consent for free-preview signups, soft opt-in under GDPR ePrivacy Article 13.2 for existing customers)

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing [email protected] with “unsubscribe” in the subject.

Consent and legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance: generating and delivering your terrain report, processing payments, and sending transactional emails
• Consent: clicking “Send” on the email capture form after reading the notice counts as clear affirmative action (GDPR Article 4(11)). We store the exact notice text and timestamp as your consent record
• Soft opt-in: if you are an existing customer, we may send information about similar products under GDPR ePrivacy Directive Article 13.2 and analogous provisions (CAN-SPAM, Australian Spam Act, CASL). You can opt out at any time
• Legitimate interest: fraud prevention and security

Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage to remember your voucher code and certain UI preferences. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Because our analytics tool is cookieless (see below) and we use no personal-tracking cookies, no cookie consent banner is required.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly and cookieless web analytics tool, to understand which pages visitors find useful. Plausible aggregates anonymous visit data (page URL, referrer, country, browser, device type). It does not use cookies, does not identify you personally, does not follow you across sites, and does not share data with advertisers or third parties. No personal data is collected.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are an EU, UK, or EEA resident you have the following rights:

• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure: ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent: unsubscribe from any email, or email us to revoke consent
• Lodge a complaint: with your national supervisory authority

Data retention

Generated reports and map files are stored on our servers for 12 months to allow re-downloads. After 12 months, report data is automatically deleted. Email records are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Payment records are retained as required by accounting and tax law.

Third-party services

• Stripe processes payments. Their privacy policy applies to payment data.
• Resend delivers transactional emails (report links, voucher codes, product updates). Their privacy policy applies to email delivery metadata.
• Cloudflare provides CDN and security. Standard web request logs may be retained per their policies.
